Sunday 27 May 2007

Dear Fellow Yercaudian,

The spirit of Montfort and SHY, Yercaud has lived and thrived within Australia where ex Montfort & SHY students have been in contact with each other and organised various reunions over the years.

In 2005 our colleagues in Perth made the bold move of putting together a reunion incorporating ex staff and students of both schools from all over Australia. This was a resounding success and the Melbourne folk offered to pick up the baton and host the event in 2007.

In the tradition of the Old Boys and Girls reunion we propose to hold the series of events over the weekend 9th to 11th November 2007. On Friday the 9th we will have a MEET AND GREET where we will provide a forum to give Yercaudians the opportunity to meet, mingle and converse, rekindle old friendships and make new friends, revive old memories and leave with new ones to be cherished forever.

The highlight of the weekend will be the BLUE GOLD & WHITE BALL to be held on Saturday 10th November 2007. Yearcaudians and families are invited to share an evening of music and dance, dinner, entertainment and the opportunity once more to belt out a rendition of our respective school anthems.

On Sunday we will offer a special THANKSGIVING MASS followed by a LUNCHEON from late morning to the early hours of the evening.

A committee of former students has been established and plans are well underway to raise funds towards promoting & hosting the event to all ex Yercaudians both within Australia and overseas.

All ex Montfort boys, SHY girls, staff and families are invited to be part of this special event. We would be delighted to hear from you indicating your intention to participate.

Please contact us by email or snail mail to the address indicated below. Alternatively please access our web address and keep other Yercaudians informed.

Looking forward to hearing from you and more importantly seeing you in November 2007.

Until then, with our best wishes.

Hi,
I was a boarder at Montfort upto July 1970 when I left with my family who migrated to Melbourne, Australia.
In my time in Oz I met with a number of ex Montfort/SHY Staff and Students. We have oranised the occasional reunions and when I heard of the event organised by the boys and girls in Perth 2005 I had to attend.
The mob in Melbourne have combined to put forward a programme following up from the Perth event. All details are on the Weblog aka 'the blog'
We invite you to offer your comments and support and, most importantly, let us know you will be there in November 2007.
Please pass on this information to others and look forward to seeing you later this year when we "ONCE MORE UNITE"

Hi There,
It's great to see the spirit of MOB alive down under.
I studied at Montfort from 1983 -1993. I currently reside in Sydney, NSW with my family since 1999. There are other friends from the '93 SAFFIO batch here in Sydney and we meet from time to time. It's a great atmosphere to be around with fellow montfortians young and old.
I am excited by the prospect of making it to Melbourne Meet '07, I shall try to come to the get together, if I'm unable to make it, here's wishing the Melbourne Meet the best ever meet down under.

Til We Meet Again, Let me say
SAFFIO (Farewell in our '93 language)

Great to know that the Perth 2005 reunion efforts of the many Ex students and the idea of a joint SHY/Montfort reunion have succeeded also in its objectives:
• To reach out (connect) globally with as many ex-students to renew the spirit of the schools.
• To provide the opportunity to renew old acquaintances and make new friends.
• To encourage and continue the spirit of unity that stems from our roots.
And To share this spirit with our families.

Congratulations and thank you to the Melbourne committee for picking up the baton. I will be there in Nov 07 with my family.
